MORVA

Morva is the old word for a salt marsh. The tide comes in twice a day, goes out again, and the marsh looks exactly the same. It seemed about right.

MORVA is an independent greeting card publisher based in Wicklow, founded and illustrated by Nick Lowe. Gentle Creatures is its first range. There will be others.

How a card is made

Four stages, in order

Stage 1

Pencil

The animal is drawn by hand. Posture and expression are settled before anything else happens.

Stage 2

Scan

Scanned at 600dpi and archived untouched, so the original drawing stays the source.

Stage 3

Finish

Cleaned and coloured digitally, keeping the pencil line and the grain of the paper.

Stage 4

Print

Printed digitally on 300gsm uncoated board, in small batches, with the colour checked against the original scan.

How they are made

Designed and illustrated in Ireland

Drawn and published in Wicklow. Printed digitally on FSC certified uncoated board in small batches, with no plates, so the colour is checked on every run rather than signed off once. Packed in paper rather than plastic. Envelopes are kraft and unbleached.

Trade and stockist enquiries are welcome. Opening order is 48 cards. trade@morva.ie
